Robotics
Robotics is transforming the way we live, work and solve problems. This hands-on course gives students the opportunity to explore how robots sense the world, make decisions, learn from information and respond to their environment.
Robotics combines programming, sensors, electronics, artificial intelligence and creative problem-solving to create machines that can interact with the world around them.
Students will explore how robots move, sense and respond, learning how motors, sensors and programming work together to control robotic systems. Through practical challenges, they will programme, build and experiment with robotics and physical computing technologies.
As their confidence develops, students will design and build their own robotic solutions to increasingly open-ended challenges. They will test their ideas, troubleshoot problems and refine their designs while developing an understanding of how hardware and software work together.
Students will also explore the role of artificial intelligence in robotics, investigating how machines can use information to recognise patterns, make decisions and adapt their behaviour.
The course culminates in a team-based robotics challenge, where students will plan, build, programme and test a working robotic solution to a practical problem, applying the skills and knowledge developed throughout the course.
